We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide one-on-one care to an individual living with a spinal cord injury, in a home or hospice setting. This role focuses on enhancing the client’s independence, dignity, and comfort through respectful and attentive support.
Key Responsibilities:
Experience:
Minimum 7 to 12 months of experience providing personal care or support, preferably with individuals with disabilities or spinal cord injuries.
Skills & Attributes:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Compassionate, patient, and respectful demeanor
Ability to work independently and responsibly
Reliable, punctual, and attentive to detail
Comfortable with physical aspects of care (e.g., transfers, positioning), able to lift or transfer up to 220 lbs
Availability:
Willingness to work flexible hours (including evenings, overnight or weekends and on-call as needed)
Language:
Proficient in English (spoken and understood) for clear communication with the client and family
Documentation & Checks:
Valid photo ID
Current Police Record Check or Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
References from past care-related roles
Certifications (Preferred but Not Required)
