Education:-
College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 2 years to 3 years in
- Opticianry/ophthalmic dispensing optician, OR
- Optics/optical sciences
Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Workplace information: On-site
Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Responsibilities
Tasks:-
- Analyze the client’s eyeglasses or contact lenses and by measuring the client’s eye curvature, pupillary distance and bridge width, using optical measuring devices;
- Obtain specifications for eyeglasses and contact lenses from a prescription prepared by an ophthalmologist or optometrist;
- Assist clients in selecting eyeglasses;
- Advise on the use and care of contact lenses;
- Arrange for grinding or polishing of lenses or grind and polish lenses;
- Cut and edge lenses and fit lenses into frames;
- Adjust finished eyeglasses to fit the client.
