JOB DETAILS

Workplace information:

·         In and around Calgary, Alberta.

·         On the road: Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.

 

Salary: $26.00 hourly for 30 to 40 hours per week

 

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time

 

Employment conditions: Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Night, Weekend

 

Start: Starts as soon as possible

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Languages: English

 

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma

 

Experience: At least 7 months related work experience

 

Work site environment:

·         Outdoors, Underground, Noisy, Dusty, Hot

·         Can work on the field + 35 degrees Celsius or – 30 degrees Celsius.

 

Work setting:

·         Urban area

·         Various locations

·         Rural area

·         Industrial plant

·         Construction site

·         Farm

 

 

Specific Tasks/Responsibilities:

·         Load, unload and transport construction materials.

·         Perform pre-operational inspection.

·         Read blueprints to determine work requirements – basic knowledge.

·         Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades.

·         Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt.

·         Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs.

·         Level earth to fine grade specifications.

·         Pave and rake asphalt.

·         Assist in demolishing buildings.

·         Clean and pile salvaged materials.

·         Perform routine maintenance work.

·         Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants.

·         Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites.

·         Direct traffic at or near construction sites.

 

 

EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALIZATION

Equipment and machinery experience: Concrete vibrators, Screeds, Reciprocating saws, Circular saws, Concrete saws, Mortar and concrete mixers, Chippers, Jackhammers, Air compressors, Nail guns, Drills, Augers, Trampers (Jumping Jack), Chain saw, Compactor, Sledgehammer, Hand tools

 

Construction specialization: Driveways, Residential, Sidewalks and curbs, Poured concrete

 

Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available

 

Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Physically demanding, Tight deadlines, Manual dexterity, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Sitting

 

Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs), More than 45 kg (100 lbs)

 

Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses/goggles, Gloves, Safety vest, Rain gear
