JOB DETAILS
Work location:
· In and around Calgary, AB.
· On the road – Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.
Salary: $20.00 to 21.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 30 to 40 hours per week
Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time
Employment conditions: Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Night, Weekend
Start: Starts as soon as possible

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Languages: English
Education: Some secondary education is required. No degree, certificate or diploma is required if applicant has at least 6 months of related healthcare, long-term care or homecare work experience is required. Related education can be:
· College or other courses in home support.
· Completion of a training program in care of the elderly, care of persons with disabilities, convalescent care or in a related field.
Experience: Experience may not be required if applicant has related education or training. In the absence of related education or training, then at least 6 months of related healthcare, long-term care or homecare work experience is required.
Other Requirements:
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle and clean driver’s abstract (vehicle insurance required). This is required
· Current CPR/First Aid certification (Basic Life Support level preferred).
· Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, completed within the last 6 months.
· Proof of immunizations, including up-to-date TB testing and COVID-19 vaccination as per Alberta Health guidelines.
· Ability to lift up to 25 kg and assist with client transfers (physical demands assessment may be required).
· Strong command of English (verbal and written).

Work setting: Various locations. In and around Calgary, AB.
Specific Tasks/Responsibilities:
· Administer bedside and provide personal care.
· Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, mobility support, and medication reminders.
· Prepare and serve nutritious meals. Feed or assist in feeding.
· Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties, and ensure a safe, organized living environment.
· Launder clothing and household linens.
· Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering social engagement through meaningful conversations and outings.
· Assist in regular exercise, e.g., walk.
· Facilitate specialized dementia care, including gentle redirection, memory stimulation, and reducing agitation through calming techniques. NOTE: Training will be provided.
· Lead creative engagement activities tailored to individual interests, such as visual arts, music sessions, singing, dance, improv, or storytelling to promote cognitive health and emotional wellbeing. NOTE: Training will be provided.
· Collaborate with families and Care Coordinators to develop and adjust personalized care plans based on evolving needs.
· Document care provided, report any changes in client health or behaviour, and maintain confidentiality in line with privacy standards.
· Support respite care for family caregivers, offering reliable relief during scheduled shifts.
· Shop for food and household supplies, if needed.
