Job Description

Read & interpret construction drawing, sketches & blueprints as per design specifications to prepare layouts as per building code requirements.

Frame walls, stairways, pathways for entry, porches, gables etc. by using wood & metal materials

Install vinyl siding, metal cladding, wood cladding & different types of Hardy panels on the outside envelope of the residential buildings.

Install window & door trims, Facia board, Cedar & Vinyl soffits on deck & patio’s etc.

Ability to determine and clearly identify proper materials and material quantities for new and existing projects

Frame outside posts with finished wood materials according to customer needs

Perform inside finishing work by installing Crown molding, baseboards & installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of various types of wood, plywood and wallboard.

Install inside & outside doors, closet doors, posts by using hand tool and power tools.

Education

Secondary education with 3-4 years of work experience as a carpenter or some kind of carpentry course/certification combined with minimum 1 –2 years of experience

General knowledge gained from experience of the following skills: Carpentry, door and window installation, wall paneling, and finishing.

Need to be able to use hand tools & operate power tools

Need to train junior tradesmen while accomplishing day to day tasks

Trade certification as a carpenter would be an asset but not mandatory
