Salary: $50.00 / hour for 30 to 40 hours/week

 

Job Requirements

Languages: English

Education:   Bachelor’s degree in business administration

Experience: A minimum of two years experience as a Freight Forwarding Manager is required

 

Specific Skills

Overall planning, directing, monitoring, controlling and evaluating the daily operations of a freight-forwarding company in line with the mandate given by the management of the company; Plan and organize the most effective and economic route for freight; Oversee the setting of transportation service rates and monitor revenue; Negotiate for services and preferential rates from carriers and insurance companies to achieve shipping cost optimization; Assist clients in receiving insurance reimbursements; Establish and implement policies and standards for the transportation and storage of goods taking into account factors such as weather, terrain and type of goods etc. taking special measures for the movement of delicate goods; Oversee the development of new freight business, maintain and develop relationships with new and existing clients and drive the business for optimum utilization of resources and existing facilities; Arrange and ensure proper documentation (e.g. Insurance and customs forms) is filled out in compliance with the legal requirements of the various countries that freight is routed through ; Track and trace goods in transit using software and satellite technology, report back to clients and keep them up-to-date with the progress of goods; Organize and oversee the transportation of freight between intermediate destinations-cargo terminals, port facilities or railway yards; Monitor department’s performance, prepare reports for senior management, and plan for changes to schedules and policies; Staying up-to- date with relevant political activities and legislation that might impact the movement of freight across countries; Ensure complete health and safety regulations are followed at all operational levels; Prepare invoices or cost quotations for freight transportation; process transactions such as freight charges; Participate in hiring process, organize and oversee training sessions for new employees
