The primary role of the Production Machine Operator is responsible for operating machinery and ensuring the production process runs smoothly and efficiently.  They are tasked with monitoring equipment, performing routine inspections and ensuring Safety & Quality standards are maintained during processing.

The Production Machine Operator works in partnership with the other Production Operators and leadership to assist in identifying and improving operational effectiveness and efficiency within production operations. As a key member of the MDI Holdings team, participates in department projects and initiatives.

This position requires shift work, weekend, and holiday rotations in a 24/7 operation.

The successful candidate will be required in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Responsibilities:

Production

Set up, start-up, operator, CIP and shutdown plant equipment, this includes keep their workstation clean and in compliance with Hygiene practices
Trouble shoot equipment & escalate to leadership when resolution is unknown or not achievable and will affect ability to complete daily targets
Complete required documentation during and at the end of a shift in order to maintain integrity of our process and to meet Quality Safety Regulations
Package, palletize and move finished product according to customer specifications and organizational requirements
Ensure production documentation is accurate, complete & submitted within defined timelines to ensure inventory records are correct and up-to-date.
Quality Control

Maintains product quality by practicing, complying with and enforcing GMP, Quality & Food Safety, HACCP and ISO requirements throughout the entire production lifecycle
Follows specifications and standard operational procedures (SOP’s) at all times, to achieve product quality
Performs required product testing and records test results, in accordance with SOP’s
Participates in the implementation of corrective action for product problems and process deficiencies
Acts with a sense of urgency by communicating and escalating any deviation in our standard practices to leadership to mitigate loss of product or negative impact to quality
Health & Safety

Adheres to all Health & Safety policies, practices and protocols set out by the Company and those related to job responsibilities and tasks
This includes wearing all required PPE as defined in our policies & SOP’s relating to the handling of chemicals and high-risk activities
Continuous Improvement

Assists leadership by participating in continuous improvement initiatives
Contributes insights and ideas to improve the efficiency of our operations

Required skills

0-2 years experience of Food Processing experience. Working with machinery, preferably within food processing/manufacturing would be an asset; • Able to understand and follow detailed instructions (solid English language skills); • Able to lift 25kg several times a day; • Operating manual, power pallet jacks, and/or forklifts would be an asset; • Results oriented; • Contributes to achieving team goals; • Solid work ethic; • Willing to work shift work; • Someone with safe work record – you care about keeping yourself and co-workers safe; • Able to work independently without ongoing directions.
