Job Summary:
North River Outfitting is a small, family-run outfitting business. Their guide territory is approximately 300km north of Smithers, BC near the Yukon border (Cassier Mountains). This location is fly-in only.
The Camp Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals for camp staff and guests in a remote fly-in setting. This role ensures high standards of food quality, safety, cleanliness, and organization within the camp kitchen. Experience cooking Caribbean cuisine is an asset. The Camp Cook manages food inventory, orders supplies as needed and maintains proper storage and sanitation practices in compliance with health and safety regulations. Working independently or as part of a small team, the Camp Cook helps create a welcoming and well-fed environment that supports the smooth operation of camp activities and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook complete meals as well as individual dishes in accordance with camp requirements.

Experience cooking Caribbean cuisine is an asset.

Prepare specialized meals, when applicable.
Maintain accurate inventory records of food, supplies, and kitchen equipment.
Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, and compliance with health and safety standards.
Schedule, supervise, and train kitchen helpers and other support staff as needed.
Set up and manage buffet service when required.
Clean and maintain kitchen facilities and work areas to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.

Qualifications:

Completion of secondary school is usually required.
Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cook or
completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety
or
several years of commercial cooking experience may be required.
Trade certification is available, but voluntary, in all provinces and territories.
Red Seal endorsement is also available to qualified cooks upon successful completion of the interprovincial Red Seal examination.
