Job Description:

As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of pets during their relocation process. You will be responsible for providing basic medical care, monitoring health, and maintaining accurate records, as well as offering compassionate support to pets and their owners.

Key Responsibilities:

– Perform routine health checks on pets before, during, and after travel

– Provide wound and bandage care

– Recommend appropriate health care and nutrition plans for traveling pets

– Administer medications as prescribed by the veterinarian

– Place and maintain IV catheters and administer IV fluids

– Perform basic grooming tasks to ensure pets are clean and comfortable

– Feed pets according to their dietary needs and ensure they have access to clean water

– Supervise pets to monitor their well-being and behavior

– Safely drive pets to and from the airport and their residence

– Ensure all handling and transportation comply with travel requirements and safety protocols

– Maintain accurate records of pets’ handling and travel requirements

– Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the facility

– Accept incoming animals and examine them for general health upon receipt

– Use observational skills to identify and record any health concerns

– Report any health issues or concerns to the administration promptly

– Keep detailed medical records and ensure they are up-to-date

– Communicate with pet owners, providing compassionate care and reassurance

– Be aware of protocol-specific endpoints and use sound judgment to ensure animals at endpoint are identified and reported immediately to the office destination

– Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed to provide a safe environment for pets and staff

 

Qualifications:

– Veterinary Technician certification or equivalent education.

– Knowledge of animal health care, nutrition, and basic grooming

– Strong observational skills and attention to detail

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

– Ability to handle and transport animals safely
